On the morning of July 27, 2023, the launch meeting of the electric double eccentric semi-ball valve for the 300,000 tons/year CHPPO unit of the second phase of the Sinopec Zhenhai Base project was grandly held at Afa Fluid Control Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as AFA). Relevant personnel from Sinopec Material Equipment Department, Sinopec Shanghai Engineering Co., Ltd., Sinopec Zhenhai Refining and Chemical Branch, Afa Flow Control Co., Ltd., Shanghai Zhongshen Technology Co., Ltd. and other units attended the meeting, which was held both online and offline. At the meeting, AFA reported on the content of the project's research topics (key points and difficulties); R&D progress and plans; project manufacturing cycle and procurement of purchased parts, etc.


At present, international high-end new material projects are boosting and the market potential is huge. For example, similar process package devices such as CHPPO devices, POSM devices, and POCHP devices all use imported C-type ball valve. Domestic similar products have developed rapidly in the past decade, and the technology has gradually caught up with the international advanced level. However, it is currently mainly used in low-end and medium-end working conditions, and is rarely used for high-end new material projects such as CHPPO devices, POSM devices, and POCHP devices.

 

Although imported products have certain advantages in performance and service life, they also have many shortcomings and disadvantages.


1. The price of imported products remains high.

2. The delivery time of imported products is not only long, but also fluctuates greatly, making inventory control extremely difficult.

3. It is difficult to replace accessories. Some accessories cannot be bought domestically and must be purchased from abroad.

4. The maintenance cycle is long and more expensive, increasing the cost of use.


Therefore, breaking the key technology monopoly of imported C-type ball valves in the high-end new materials industry has far-reaching significance.


In order to realize the localization of key equipment for high-end new materials projects, break the existing monopoly of imported products, reduce procurement costs, and shorten the manufacturing cycle, Sinopec Zhenhai Refining and Chemical Company organized and implemented the 300,000 tons/year CHPPO unit electric double eccentric semi-ball valve (position number MV-20503, MV-20603) (900LB 14") localization research project.

AFA undertook the research and development of this localization research project through bidding. AFA has been committed to the research, development and design of new products for many years. Its products have obtained more than 50 national patents and 4 invention patents. Among them, the C-type wear-resistant ball valve is the company's independently developed leading product suitable for harsh working conditions. It has obtained a national invention patent and filled the gap in the domestic market.

 

This kick-off meeting marks the official start of the localization research project of the electric double eccentric C-type ball valve. I believe that with the joint efforts of all parties, this project will be a complete success and make a positive contribution to the development of China's high-end new materials industry.
